A change of look, and a brighter panel
For this new series, LG has redesigned its flagship product and delivers a thinner TV. Now the foot of the TV no longer occupies the entire width and takes up less space once placed on a piece of furniture. But the real change is in the design which reduces the weight of TV. The C2 model uses lighter materials, including a composite fiber frame that halves the weight of the entire TV. Result: the TV has a sleek look and excellent finishes with even thinner edges.
Regarding the screen, if LG is known to deliver OLED panels of excellent quality this year again the manufacturer impresses. Here, the C2 series relies on OLED EVO technology which provides more brightness. It is also 20% brighter than the older generation. Obviously, we are entitled to infinite contrasts, deep blacks and bright colors and excellent brightness.
A TV that ticks all the boxes
Who says new model, says new processor. The C2 model is based on the Alpha 9 Gen 5 processor. The latter adds more efficient upscaling technology thanks to more powerful algorithms, to move 1080p content to 4K definition more efficiently. Otherwise, the LG C2 is HDR, HDR10, Dolby Vision IQ compatible. As for the audio part, it is also improved, where we go from a virtual mix in 5.1 on the C1 range to 7.1.2 for a wider sound.
The TV C2 is also comfortable with video games since it embeds HDMI 2.1 technology allowing display in [email protected] for next-gen consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X), without forgetting the VRR, or variable refresh rate, useful to combat screen tearing and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode, to reduce latency). We can also take advantage of a response time of only 1 ms, and G-Sync and AMD FreeSync certifications. The screen is also refreshed at 100 Hz, which will ensure good image fluidity. The perfect combo, so you’ll be ready to play in the best conditions.
One of the best interfaces
Finally, the TV runs on webOS, the home interface developed by LG. It is now one of the best, thanks to its simplicity and ergonomics. Depending on what you are watching, the system may make program suggestions. You can quickly access flagship applications, such as Netflix, Disney +, Prime Video or YouTube, which are obviously included. And the little novelty is the possibility of setting up several different profiles, in case members of the same family do not share the same tastes. Finally, the TV is also compatible with voice assistants.
