Released since 2019, the Amazon Kindle is the most affordable reader from the American firm. It goes to the essentials, with a few functions to optimize reading comfort. Today its price is down: 54.99 euros against 79.99 euros.

Whether Amazon or Kobo, both brands offer quality e-readers. Yet Amazon manages to take advantage of the competition, and this is due to its Kindle. This product is a cheap version that is very successful for its relatively low price. It is not part of the top of the basket, but it is a good gateway for reading lovers who would like to try this type of product to enjoy a large library of pocket-sized books. And that’s good, since Amazon’s Kindle (2019) is currently 31% off.
What we love about the Amazon Kindle
- Its small format with its screen without reflections
- Its backlight system for reading both in the sun and at night
- Its solid autonomy for weeks of reading
- Its affordable price
Launched at a price of 79.99 euros, the Kindle e-reader from Amazon (with advertisements) benefits from a reduction of 25 euros and goes to 54.99 euros only on the site of the American giant.
You will also find the water-resistant model on sale. The Kindle Paperwhite (2021 version) goes from 139.99 euros to 109.99 euros on Amazon.

An ideal first reader
It must be admitted that despite a good number more, the e-readers available on the market are sometimes quite expensive. Fortunately, some offer very good value for money, such as the Amazon Kindle. Representative of the entry-level, this reader focuses on the essentials to please the greatest number. It has a screen with a diagonal of 6 inches with a rather limited resolution of 167 pixels per inch. Its format makes it easily transportable to accompany you everywhere during your journeys, in transport for example. This 2019 model has the advantage of offering a screen without reflection with 4 LED front lighting, to be able to read day and night. Unfortunately, the brightness is not adjustable, but the paper-quality print is very easy on the eyes, especially since there is no blue light, thus avoiding eye strain.
This small reader comes with 8 GB of storage, to store a large amount of e-books. You can download them via Wi-Fi from the Kindle catalog, with millions of references, without going through your computer. And if in the past Amazon Kindles did not support files in EPUB format – the most popular format – this should change to the delight of e-reader users. This Kindle’s software options are minimal, but it does have some nice features. We find for example the functioninteractive vocabularyto automatically collect all the words searched for in the dictionary, or even adjust the font size to limit eye strain. And then the advantage is that you will not be disturbed in your reading, by the slightest notification whether e-mails or messages.
Read for hours or even weeks
Amazon wants to convince people reluctant to e-readers by offering long-lasting autonomy. With your Kindle, you can last for weeks of use before running out of battery. The manufacturer announces up to four weeks of autonomy, if you stick to 30 minutes of reading per day with the wireless connection deactivated and the brightness set to 13. This will therefore depend on your personal use. With such a capacity, you will very quickly forget to charge this device. Count at least four good hours to recharge it. Be aware that the Kindle, on the other hand, is not the most suitable e-reader for reading in the bath, because it is not water resistant, unlike the brand’s more high-end models, such as the PaperWhite.
