Smart replies, also known as suggested replies, are starting to roll out to Android Auto. A good way for builders to respond to a message in one click without going through a voice response.

Android Auto users have been waiting for smart answers for several months now. In December 2021 already, everything led to believe that this new functionality was going to land shortly. It will still have been necessary to wait several months for it to begin to point the tip of its nose.
The discovery of this novelty is to the credit of 9to5Google, which however specifies that it has used the latest beta version of the system. More concretely, the suggested responses will allow you to respond to an interlocutor in just one click, when an incoming message appears on your interface.
More permissive
Until then, Android Auto was content to read said message aloud. Restrictive system requires, it was then impossible for you to enter text on the screen, whether driving or stationary. At the same time, the system does not want to get in the way by creating unnecessary danger through multiple interactions.

In this case, the driver was therefore obliged to interact with his voice to respond to the message received. This is exactly where the smart answers come in, via preset choices of up to three words or an emoji. Click it, and your contact will receive a ready-made response.
You will have the choice
Google gives you the choice to use either this feature or the voice command which is obviously still available. The “personalized answer” button will thus activate the assistant, to which you can then dictate your answer.
Rolling out to the beta, the suggested answers are likely to arrive for the general public in the very near future. This kind of feature comes in addition to other new features recently implemented, such as the system’s ability to tell you whether your USB cable is good or bad.
