The Android system welcomes its first functional Nintendo Switch emulator. Skyline is already capable of running several games.
Since the launch of the Nintendo Switch in 2017 with an architecture close to the Nvidia Shield, the dream of an Android emulator has been driving fans of the hack. Nintendo’s hybrid console runs on an ARM platform, like most Android devices, with a proprietary operating system that uses some components from Android and FreeBSD. For the first time, that dream becomes a little more tangible with work on Skyline, the first true Nintendo Switch emulator for Android.
We have already told you about Nintendo Switch emulation on Frandroid. This is a nascent problem for Nintendo, which has to deal with Switch games that look better and perform better on PC than on its own game console. There is indeed talk of running the latest fashionable games in 8K at through the Yuzu emulator. Now the manufacturer to deal with massive emulation on any high-end smartphone.
Skyline is therefore an application for Android developed by taking some elements from Yuzu and Ryujinx, the two most advanced emulators on PC. As XDA indicates, the teams behind these two emulators have even agreed to lend a hand for the development of Skyline.
A few games are running
The emulator is still very young compared to its two comrades, but already promises to run the games sonic mania and Celestial. Next on the list is super mario odyssey. Titles of varying complexity that allow you to flush out the biggest bugs present in the emulator.
