We had already heard recent rumors that evoked the arrival of OnePlus in the segment of folding smartphones, but it would finally seem that the Shenzhen firm would not be limited to a single model as initially planned and would arrive directly with several proposals.
OnePlus has historically had ambition to spare and the Chinese company is said to be bending over backwards to be able to offer ever more attractive new smartphones in the future. It may be its connection to the Oppo family that allows the company to think bigger today, as we had already heard of their ambition to release a foldable smartphone in the future, but new information lead us to believe that OnePlus would actually be preparing more than one folding smartphone model.
A family of folders in anticipation at OnePlus
It all starts with an image posted on the leaker’s Twitter account. This would tease the arrival of a foldable smartphone at OnePlus, information that had already been rumored before. The company is preparing to market a folding smartphone very similar to the Oppo Find N which Oppo demonstrated in December 2021. This device, more compact than a smartphone like the Galaxy Z Fold 3, revisits the format of the foldable giving it a more compact look and a less visible crease than the Samsung version.

The story could have ended there, but according to the Android Headlines site, which had the opportunity to speak more in depth with the leaker, it would not be just one, but several models of foldable smartphones that OnePlus would like to launch. on the market in 2023. This information is obviously to be taken with the usual tweezers, but it would not be incongruous for OnePlus to decide to come up with at least two solutions like Samsung did.
Finally real competitors to the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip?
Few manufacturers have yet entered the folding smartphone market and there is currently a real boulevard for Samsung which currently reigns supreme in the category. It would be good to see a bit of competition to energize the market, which would surely benefit the end user. Apart from the few Vivo X Fold, Honor Magic V and Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold offered only in China and the Huawei P50 Pocket without integrated Google services, there is ultimately little competition offered on the market. OnePlus would therefore be the first real alternative to Samsung on the folding market. Especially since OnePlus is known to offer rather aggressive prices which could force Samsung to retaliate. The information comes from a single source at this time, remains to be seen if it will be corroborated elsewhere in the future. The space should therefore become much more interesting next year if OnePlus decides to put its paw there.
