Segway presented a new electric scooter powered by artificial intelligence at the Micromobility Europe (MME) 2022 trade show in Amsterdam. And this in order to improve the safety of users and the durability of machines.
Segway is now a key player in the electric scooter sector, which came under the Chinese Ninebot in 2015. Between them, the two companies have a considerable strike force on the market thanks to a rich and varied range . The group also wants to go further by standing out from the competition as much as possible.
To do this, Segway has designed an electric scooter with artificial intelligence. The machine is based on an integrated and unprecedented platform called Segway Pilot, we learn in a press release. The whole project was introduced at the Salon Micromobility Europe (MME) 2022, in Amsterdam.
The Segway S90L, from its name, was designed for self-service sharing. The manufacturer will therefore seek to forge strong links with the main operators in the sector, who would be keen to improve the safety and durability of their vehicles.
For its part, the Segway Pilot platform relies on both sensors and a series of algorithms. To do this, the company used the latest AI technologies from Qualcomm, but also its own know-how in computer vision and machine learning.
The electric scooter will be able to detect several elements of an urban environment, such as sidewalks, parking spaces and even pedestrians. She will also be able toprovide real-time advice and assistance to various users“. For the moment, Segway does not give any concrete use cases.
Artificial intelligence requires, we imagine that in the future the system will project itself even further in terms of functionalities. It’s up to Segway to find uses to optimize our future user experiences.
