The DJI Mini 2 drone represents the entry-level of the brand. It is however capable of filming in 4K and is a good solution for beginners. Today, it is offered with many accessories for 529 euros against 599 euros usually.
The DJI Mini 2 replaces the first of the name and brings its share of new features. Its performance has been improved thanks to the integration of new engines and the arrival of 4K. It keeps its compact format which had already seduced us on the DJI Mavic Mini, and represents a very good entry point into the world of drones with on-board camera. Today, it comes with a full range of accessories with a lower price thanks to this discount of more than 10%.
The key points of the DJI Mini 2
- A “pocket” and lightweight drone
- More powerful motors for more stability
- Capable of shooting 4K at 30 FPS
Initially at 599 euros, the DJI Mini 2 Fly More Combo drone is currently on sale at 529 euros on the Boulanger site.
A model that retains the strengths of its predecessor
The DJI Mini 2 takes up the fundamentals of its predecessor: being an easy-to-use and compact drone. It is above all designed for beginners, and requires no training. This second guard version still adopts a compact and light format, since it weighs only 249 grams. This drone will therefore be easily transportable thanks to its foldable skeleton which can slip into a backpack without any problem.
To control the drone, simply download the DJI Fly application, available on iOS and Android, then insert your smartphone into the controller with removable joysticks provided. To connect your device, you will have three cables available: a microUSB, a USB-C and a Lightning. Concretely, this installation will allow you to obtain HD video feedback in full flight.
The Mini 2 has the same 1/2.3” 12-megapixel sensor as the Mavic Mini, but can now shoot in 4K at 30 frames per second, compared to 2.7K for the first version. Result: the images, in addition to being remarkably stable, are stunning. The videos will be perfect for apprentice pilots or regulars looking for a drone below the 250 gram mark. DJI is making other welcome improvements. The motors are a little more powerful, which allows it to hold more firmly against the wind. The transmission system switches to the OcuSync 2.0 used by the high-end models. The theoretical range therefore increases to 10 km.
This drone brings updates to “intelligent” flight modes. There are programmed modes such as Spotlight 2.0, ActiveTrack 3.0 and Point of Interest 3.0. QuickShots and Hyperlapse modes are obviously included. However, this drone does not have front and side obstacle sensors, so make sure you have enough space to launch your drone. As for autonomy, DJI announces a maximum flight time of 31 minutes. During our test, we achieved an average battery life of 24 minutes. To use it longer, the 2 additional batteries included in the Fly More Combo pack will grant 1 hour of additional use.
