You don’t know yet where to go on vacation this summer. Google has already thought about it for you. Or almost. The search engine is improving the tools of its Google Flights and Google Explore services to give you lots of ideas and find the best price for your stay.
No rest ! Google wants to be there for all the moments of your life. And your holidays don’t cut it. In 2021, post-containment period, French Internet users had opted for short or medium distance destinations, Casablanca, Marrakech, Barcelona, Nice and Lisbon monopolizing the Top 5 summer. This summer, they now also dream of going to see New York, Montreal, Bali and further afield, according to the most searched destinations on Google for the months of June, July and August.
Whether by plane, car or even on foot, the next destination must be a click away for the search engine. And it is even ready to be at your disposal to find the ideal stay. For this, the travel platform adds new tools.
Find the right destination at the right price
Launched several years ago, Google Flights allows you to choose your flight and obtain the different prices offered by the companies according to your dates or your budget. It is also possible to be alerted if the price of your flight drops below the usual prices. Until now, this only concerned specific dates on your return (or one-way) flight. Google is improving its tool and now allows you to receive an email alert for a desired destination without a specific date.
If it’s not the date of your stay that’s the problem, but rather the place to go, Google also has a solution with Explore. This tool will allow you to search for a place to stay according to your criteria (budget, length of vacation, things to do, etc.). All you have to do is choose your dates, your flight criteria (stopover, duration, company, etc.) or even a resort area.
The map updates with flight prices, information on nearby activities, hotel rates, weather, and more. An “Explore nearby” point now appears to allow you to refine your search, and in particular by indicating places to drive to quickly.
A place according to your feet or your car
Obviously, Google does not leave you in such a good way. To go all the way in planning the trip, the Google Travel page has as much information as possible on hotels and other types of accommodation at the destination. It is now possible to filter your search according to nearby cultural places, options for eating (areas in yellow then appear) or shopping, obtaining a neighborhood guide in certain major cities. It’s up to you to define the perimeter that interests you around your drop-off point (15 to 30 minutes on foot or by car, for example).
The other Google tools are of course highlighted, from Google Maps to Google Weather, including the possibility of creating your “travel diary” before you even leave. You can plan your next trip by assigning bookmarks to many information (hotel, tourist places, city, etc.). Just tap the bookmark icon. They will then all be listed in the “Saved” section of your Google Travel page (in the tab on mobile, in the right panel on desktop).
