The Citroën Ami will soon no longer be alone in its segment, as a new electric quadricycle named Estrima Birò arrives in France.
Before, there were scooters. But today, the “new fashion” is to drive a Citroën Ami, while the brand’s low-cost electric city car with chevrons is a real hit with young drivers. Relatively affordable, safer than a two-wheeler and zero-emission, it seems to have found the right recipe, especially since it currently does not have a single competitor.
However, that could change. Indeed, a new small electric quadricycle, baptized Estrima Birò is about to make its arrival on French roads. To tell the truth, it is also not so new as that, since the firm already marketed it ten years ago, before disappearing without leaving too many traces. So here he is back, with brand new ambitions.
Small size, great practicality
Direct rival of the Citroën Ami, this return to the market is even more compact than the trendy city car, with a length displayed at 1.74 meters, against 2.41 meters for the latter. Ideal for parking anywhere, especially in large crowded cities, the Birò can be recharged anywhere, thanks to its removable battery which plugs into a 220 volt socket. It then offers up to 55 kilometers of autonomy for a recharge of three hours

As specified on the brand’s website, another choice of battery can increase its range of action up to 100 kilometers, while charging takes about five hours. Several configurations are available, with or without doors with a simple box or a large loading box, allowing you to transport a few things, with a capacity displayed at 341 dm3.
From 14 years old
Falling into the category of motor quadricycles and not cars, such as the Citroën Ami or the Renault Twizy, the Estrima Birò can be driven from the age of 14 only and does not require a driving licence. Equipped with two 3.3 kW motors, its speed is then limited to only 45 or 60 km/h, depending on the option chosen.
Manufactured in Europe, this astonishing machine is marketed from 10,800 euros, a price significantly higher than the 7,790 euros of the Citroën Ami. Nevertheless, and like its rival, the Estrima Birò is eligible for the ecological bonus, up to 27% of its amount, or around 2,900 euros.
