How to cancel your Free mobile subscription?
If you want to cancel your mobile plan while keeping your phone number, the procedure is very simple thanks to the portability of the number well supervised in France. You must first select your new operator, the easiest way to do this is to consult our plan comparator, which will help you choose the best offer of the moment.
You must then find out your RIO number, the unique identification number that allows your new operator to retrieve your line number. To do this, simply dial the 3179, a free number that will tell you your RIO number as well as the remaining commitment period. This information will also be sent by SMS once the call has ended.
All that remains is to subscribe to his new subscription, indicating to the new operator his mobile telephone number and his RIO identifier. He will then take care of the portability and the termination of the old subscription, without any additional action on your part.
How do I terminate a Free Flex contract?
Free Flex is the latest leasing offer from the operator allowing you to spread the payment of your smartphone over a maximum of 2 years. Apart from the legal withdrawal period of 14 days, there are two ways to stop your contract. In the first case, if you are in the period corresponding to the 24 months of the rental, you have two choices:
- Pay the option to buy the phone to keep it.
- Pay the remaining monthly installments and return the phone.
In both cases, everything happens from the Free subscriber area, then in the section My orders.
In the second case, i.e. after the 24-month period, you have three choices this time:
- Pay the option to buy the phone to keep it.
- Return the phone free of charge.
- Keep the phone rental and continue to pay the same monthly payments.
How to cancel your Freebox subscription?
Subscription to a Freebox offer is not subject to a commitment. However, the termination procedure is not the same as for a mobile plan. To do so, contact the operator’s Customer Service at 3244 by choosing the information on the termination of the subscription. In the case of a change of operator, you will only need to provide the RIO number to your new operator. This can be obtained via a free call to 3179 via your fixed line (or to 0805 92 3179 if you do not have one). The new operator is generally responsible for taking into account the termination costs of up to 100 euros, so you will not have to pay anything.
In case you just want to end your subscription without taking another operator.
Note that if your subscription includes a subscription to Netflix, Prime Video, Canal+ Series or Apple TV+, each service will contact you individually by email to find out whether or not you wish to keep your subscription following your termination.
What are the termination fees for a Freebox subscription?
The termination fees for a Freebox subscription remain the same, regardless of the offer: 49 euros. This price is the same as with other operators, whether your subscription is with commitment or not.
In the event that you have chosen a subscription with commitment, you will be asked to pay all of the monthly payments remaining under this commitment in addition to the cancellation fees. This is particularly the case for the Freebox Revolution and Freebox Mini 4K offers.
How to return your Freebox after termination?
After confirmation of termination by the operator, you will then have 15 days to return your rental equipment. You must first call 3244 to obtain a return slip which will allow you to return your Freebox free of charge.
You will then have to make a package containing if possible the original box with all the equipment in full as well as the accessories. Everything must be sent to the address that appears on the Free return label. Your parcel must then be delivered within 15 days via La Poste or a parcel relay near you.
What are the costs to be paid in the event of non-return of the Freebox?
In the event that the equipment requested in return by Free is not returned to the operator within the requested deadlines and after potential reminders, Free reserves the right to apply costs for non-return of equipment. These costs may also be applied if the equipment is found in poor condition or is returned incompletely. Here are the costs for non-return of material:
- Freebox Pop server: 150 euros.
- Player Freebox Pop: 100 euros.
- Freebox Delta server: 400 euros.
- Freeplug: 50 euros.
- Pop Wi-Fi repeater: 80 euros.
- Server and Player Freebox Revolution: 250 euros each.
- Remote control: 20 euros.
In the event of late return of Freebox equipment, Free reserves the right to apply fixed penalties.
How can I find the last invoice after canceling my Free mobile plan or my Freebox?
You can access all the invoices for the last 12 months from the Free Customer Area for 1 year, even after the termination of your line. The identifiers and the password remain unchanged if you have already connected to the Customer Area.
If even after this step, you are unable to access the last invoice, you can contact customer service by telephone at 3244 so that an advisor can send it.
Free Termination Letter Template
To definitively cancel a mobile plan or a Freebox subscription, without taking a new operator and therefore permanently losing your mobile or landline number, here is the procedure to follow. The operator recommends contacting support by chat or phone, but the best method is to send a letter by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt (LRAR).
