Full box for the Steam Deck. Valve’s portable console has seen the number of games 100% compatible with its configuration triple since its launch. Good news for Valve, which is taking its bet, but also and above all for the players.

The information comes from our colleagues at Numerama : the number of games fully compatible with the Steam Deck has tripled since the launch of the portable console, a little over two months ago. This is what we see by looking at the data shared by Bowling Steam and ProtonDB. At the end of February, just under 400 games available on Steam were fully compatible with the Steam Deck. On April 28, the bar of 1,200 100% compatible titles had this time been crossed, i.e. a tripling of the initial volume.
This performance is largely due to Proton, the tool used by Valve to launch on the Steam Deck (and therefore under SteamOS, based on Linux) games normally designed for Windows. This tool can, if necessary, induce compatibility problems, corrected later or not, which ultimately influence the number of titles fully – or partially – supported by the Valve console.
A constantly growing number of compatible games
Anyway, the number of games compatible with the Steam Deck continues to grow. To date, ProtonDB evokes just over 1300 games fully supported by the device, and nearly 2500 playable games (these can then be launched on the console, but not optimally). The catalog of titles that can be used with the Steam Deck is very generous anyway.

The richness and diversity of the catalog are important criteria for a game console: they contribute a lot to its long-term success… and in this case the Steam Deck seems to be on the right track. Note that this extended compatibility dynamic is accompanied by a rather well thought out game validation system at Valve.
The latter makes it very easy for players to find out which titles in their library are compatible with the Steam Deck, all using an online tool requiring a simple connection to their Steam account.
