As expected, Android 12L is indulging members of the Windows 11 Insiders Program through the latest Windows Subsystem update for Android.

Microsoft is opening the floodgates. The firm has started rolling out the latest update to its Windows Subsystem for Android (v.2204.40000.19.0). A few weeks after its arrival on the “Dev” channel of Windows 11, this update therefore makes its way to members of the Insider program. The latter can now take the opportunity to test Android 12.1 alias Android 12L on their PCs.
As specified by XDA Developers, the update brings some additional novelties on the occasion of this new stage of its journey. Some are important, such as support for advanced networking. This feature allows Android applications to connect to other devices configured on the same network as the PC, such as security cameras or speakers, for example.
Android 12L now testable on Windows 11, with some interesting new features
At the same time, Microsoft fixed display issues that could occur when Android apps connected to a camera. They now display in the correct orientation, based on the physical orientation of the camera. We also learn that the problems of letterboxing, but also camera stream distortion, have been fixed. The other improvements detailed by Microsoft this time concern keyboard and mouse support in Android applications. The firm has also tweaked the compatibility of these apps with Windows notifications.
Beyond its support for Android 12.1, this subsystem update also includes the latest version of Chromium WebView, as well as a new Settings app dedicated to the Windows subsystem for Android (to make it easier to find, or force applications not to be resizable, among others). Microsoft has finally disabled diagnostic data collection by default for the subsystem. It is possible to reactivate it, from the settings, if you want to help Microsoft improve the experience.
Available now, this new update can be accessed from the Microsoft Store Library. Just head there and possibly force the update check to find it.
