Nearly forty years after the release of the original DeLorean, the revival of the legendary car from Back to the Future is about to see the light of day. Here are the first images of the long-awaited DeLorean Alpha5.

We have already told you about it several times, and the revelation with great fanfare began yesterday on the DeLorean site where we find the first renderings of the reissue of the DMC-12 in electric version, responding to the name of Alpha5. If it uses the codes of the legendary version that we know thanks to the saga Back to the futureit has been able to adapt and offer a more modern design, as you will see below.
The rebirth of the legend
Despite the very low success of the original DeLorean in terms of sales volumes (around 9,000 copies were produced in the early 1980s), the latter is an integral part of pop culture, and the vast majority of the population is not indifferent to its atypical design.

When the DeLorean brand announced last February that it wanted to revive Marty McFly and Doc Brown’s car in an electric version, it caused a lot of ink to flow, and many fans were eager to learn more about the future racing car of the firm.

With technical characteristics that do not disappoint (0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds and nearly 500 kilometers of range for the base model), there was only one thing missing to finish making the mouths water for DeLorean fans: the final design of the vehicle.
It is with these few shots that the DeLorean Alpha5 is revealed, before being presented to the general public next August at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California.

Thanks to the visuals made available today, we learn that the electric sedan will have 4 seats, but there will be only one door on each side, with a butterfly opening, as was the case on the DMC-12. The width of the opening is therefore gigantic, as you can see.
The interior meanwhile seems quite in tune with the times, with a screen behind the steering wheel and another, smaller, at the level of the central console. We will probably learn more when the prototype is revealed on August 18, where the lucky ones will probably be able to take their place aboard this DeLorean Alpha5, which should be offered from 175,000 dollars according to IGN.
