Samsung is gradually implementing smart widgets to its latest phone models running One UI 4.1 (Android 12. The functionality is reminiscent of iOS.
If you too appreciate widgets much more than reason, then what is coming to Samsung’s folding smartphones should please you. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 received the June security patch in Korea and Tizen Help (via Android Police) noticed that it brought the “smart widgets”.
This feature, which appeared last March, somewhat imitates the stacking of widgets that we know with iOS 15 on the iPhone. It allows you to place several widgets on the same location and then swipper to switch from one to another.
Convenient when you love these little visual tools on your homepage, but don’t want to turn it into a jumble of unattractive blocks. All you have to do is collect them all in one or two blocks and you’re done.

This feature is all the more meaningful since since Android 12, Google application widgets have been thoroughly revamped.
Which smartphones will benefit from it?
Initially, only the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, S22 Ultra, A13, Tab S8, Tab S8 Plus and Tab S8 Ultra could benefit from it. It therefore seems that Samsung is determined to extend the compatible devices, starting with its two folding devices, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3. In France, we will certainly have to wait for the June patch to arrive before. We can also think that the brand’s next phones, in particular the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 will benefit from this addition.
We ourselves tried to use it on a Galaxy S20 under One UI 4.1 without success. It therefore appears that for older models, it will be necessary to wait a little longer to take advantage of it.
