EuroNCAP unveils the results of the Kia EV6 and Volvo C40 Recharge in crash tests. And we can say that both are doing very well with 5 stars each.
This is a long-awaited step, which usually occurs a few months after the entry into the market of a new model. These are of course the famous crash tests set up by Euro NCAP. The latter is a completely independent organization, in charge of the approval of cars recently launched on the market, through tests carried out according to very precise specifications.
Several cars are then tested, in conditions reproducing various types of shocks, in particular frontal and lateral. During this procedure, several points are analyzed, such as the protection of adult and child passengers, as well as that of pedestrians. Passive and active safety equipment is also taken into account in the rating, in the form of stars ranging up to five.
In this new burst of tests, two models were evaluated in particular: the Volvo C40 Recharge and the Kia EV6.
Very good score for the Volvo C40 Recharge
While both received five stars, the Volvo fares better, with a 92% score for adult occupant protection. The Scandinavian SUV excels in particular in side protection, and is particularly well designed to avoid whiplash, which is often fatal.
The newest member of the range also performs very well, as the results show, with regard to child protection, with a score of 89% in this domain. Passive and active safety equipment is also numerous, with an endowment including, in particular, lane keeping assistance. Finally, the C40 receives the note of 70% for the protection of pedestrians and cyclists and 89% for safety aids (speed control, lane keeping, automatic emergency braking, etc.).
The Kia EV6 also excels
For its part, the Kia EV6 is also doing very well, especially in terms of protection for adult users. The raised sedan indeed receives 90% mark in this area, only two points less than the C40 Recharge. Overall, passengers are well protected, although the risk of whiplash is higher in the rear.
The children are also safe, while the Korean gets a score of 86%. In terms of equipment, the Kia EV6 displays a rather complete endowment and the driving assistance systems have proven to be efficient. with an efficiency of 87%. Finally, in the chapter of the protection of vulnerable users, it receives a score of 64%.
