LG today announced a new ultra-short throw projector attached to its CineBeam Laser 4K range. This new model goes even further than its competitors: it can broadcast a 100-inch image by being placed less than 10 cm from the wall.
Always bigger, always closer. LG has just unveiled a new ultra-short throw triple laser projector: the CineBeam Laser 4K HU915QE. Its main feature? It is capable of broadcasting a 100-inch image while remaining placed very close to the wall: only 9.8 cm in this case, thanks to a throw ratio of 0.19. This new projector also goes up to a maximum luminance of 3,700 lumens to give birth to a vivid image, but also perfectly contrasted. LG announces a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1, equivalent to the best OLED televisions.
As the manufacturer indicates in its press release, this new model follows the HU715Q, launched at the start of the year, which was already capable of displaying a 120-inch image from 18.3 cm away (which LG already allows for a few years)… or from 90 inches to just 5.6 cm from the wall. In a way, the new HU915QE therefore seeks the happy medium.
A projector that will cost you dearly
Either way, the performance remains notable. As The Verge points out, not all projectors can cast so close to the wall. Among the competition, the AWOL LTV-3500 must for example be placed at 24.9 cm to broadcast an image of 100 inches too.
The HU915QE runs on webOS, LG’s operating system. We can therefore find the main SVoD platforms there. LG also specifies that its new video projector is compatible with Apple’s AirPlay 2, and that it has two USB 2.0 sockets for connecting storage devices, for example. On the audio side, the device relies on an integrated 40 W speaker in 2.2, but can also count on three HDMI eARC ports to connect a Home Cinema.
For the moment, LG has not yet announced the price for its new CineBeam Laser 4K HU915QE, but the machine seems to be already displayed for pre-orders at almost 6000 dollars at American specialized retailers. In France, a price of more or less 5700 euros excluding tax is therefore to be expected for this product, which will arrive on the market during the first half of 2022, without further details at this stage.
