The parent who the child lives with most of the time is the custodial parent. The other parent is the non-custodial parent. The non-custodial parent usually pays child support to the custodial parent. What would you like to do?

If you have not received a letter from the Office of Child Support within three months of your public assistance case opening, call 1-866-540-0008. If you or your children have received public assistance in the past and a child support case was not opened, or is closed, you can apply for child support services.

Still, some children do not get the support they need. Regardless of their living situation or relationship, both parents should provide the financial, medical and emotional support a child needs to grow into a responsible adult.
