The Xbox Series S is a slightly different home console from the Series X, since it is less powerful and without a drive, but can launch the same games. It suffers much fewer breaks than its big sister, but Microsoft will clearly run out of stock with this new offer at Micromania.

If the Xbox Series sold better than the PlayStation 5 in North America and Europe during the month of February, it is obviously a function of stocks allocated to the different territories of the world, but it is also a bit thanks to the Series S, which is easier to produce and above all more affordable. The price of this next-gen console is also currently falling to further accelerate sales against Sony.
What to remember from the Xbox Series S?
- It’s the smallest next-gen console
- It can run games in 1440p at 60 fps
- There’s no drive, so Game Pass is a must-have
Instead of 299.99 euros usually, the Xbox Series S with 512 GB of storage via SSD is now available on sale at 269.99 euros on the Micromania site.

The ideal console for Game Pass
The Xbox Series S does not offer the same design or the same characteristics as its big sister, but what you should especially remember with this next-gen console is the absence of the Blu-Ray player. This results in the impossibility of using your old Xbox games (One, 360, etc.) or of being lent new and future titles by his friends. You will therefore have to go through the Microsoft Store to buy your games, or simply subscribe to the Xbox Game Pass. This monthly subscription turns out to be a must-have as a rule, but this is all the more true with the Series S.
You can then play hundreds of unlimited games by downloading them directly to the console. There are lots of independent productions, but also first-party titles from Microsoft and lots of games from third-party publishers. But the big highlight is that all the next big triple A’s are included in the catalog as soon as they are released, and they promise to be numerous since the takeover of Besthesda and Activision-Blizzard.
The affordable next-gen
With more than 200 euros difference with the Series X today, Microsoft’s affordable console is obviously the less powerful of the two: 4 TFlops against 12. However, these figures should not be compared with the Xbox One / PlayStation 4 generation , since the machines next gen are not based on the same architecture. The S embeds almost the same AMD Zen 2 processor as its big sister and offers the same functions of ray tracing, as well as the use of the SSD (512 GB) with the Xbox Velocity Architecture which greatly reduces loading times. This also makes it compatible with the Quick Resume feature, which has just been enriched. The Xbox Series S is primarily designed for Full HD screens – with a maximum definition of 1440p.
