Mini unveils a teaser announcing the arrival of a new electric SUV. It should be the replacement of the current Countryman, at the end of his career.
Like many manufacturers, Mini is also preparing to make its transition to 100% electric, when it announced a few months ago its desire to no longer sell thermal models from 2030. A date which thus precedes of five years that chosen by the European Commission to prohibit the sale of internal combustion vehicles. For now, the British manufacturer has only one electric car in its range, namely the Mini Cooper SE. But that should soon change, as it has just unveiled a teaser announcing a second connected vehicle approaching.
A 100% electric Countryman
Contrary to certain brands which wish to keep the mystery, the English firm does not hide it, this newcomer will indeed be the replacement for the current Countryman, she confirms it in her press release. We will still have to wait before knowing more, while she specifies that a concept will first be presented in July, a 100% electric crossover, which will integrate the premium city car segment.
For the time being, Mini does not provide any additional information on its technical data sheet. We only know that this vehicle, like all future novelties of the brand, will ignore the leather of animal origin and will massively reduce the use of chrome, in a more ecological approach. The use of recycled materials will be increasingly important.
A new stylistic language
But this concept, whose name is not yet known, will also be the opportunity for Mini to announce its new stylistic directionnamed ” Charismatic Simplicity“. As the press release states, each model will have its own identity, while remaining consistent with the rest of the range, thanks to common elements. The brand cites in particular the taillights inspired by the Union Jack, the famous flag. The lines should be more refined, and will focus on the essentials.
On board too, some changes will be noted. If the next Mini models will keep their rounded digital handset as well as a few physical buttons, they should now use OLED technology. Present on the Mini Vision Urbanaut concept unveiled in 2020, it could be integrated into the next series models. The design of the touch screen should evolve, without the brand giving more details.
