To accompany the new iPhone 14 in the fall, Apple would work on not an Apple Watch, but possibly three different models. Alongside the Series 8 and SE, a watch aimed at extreme sports enthusiasts is said to be in the works with a larger screen and a more robust chassis.

The start of the school year promises to be busy for Apple. Not only are the new iPhone 14s expected to make an appearance, but they could be accompanied by several Apple Watch models.
In addition to the expected Apple Watch Series 8, the entry-level Watch SE is expected to return in a new version. And a third sportier model has been rumored for months.
A bigger and stronger screen
Mark Gurman, the well-informed journalist from Bloomberg, returned to the charge on the famous Watch Sport which could make its appearance. According to him, it would have a larger screen than the current 45 mm case (at least 2 inches diagonally against 1.9). It evokes a definition of approximately 410 x 502 pixels. This would help Apple show more data when exercising, including all the new metrics announced with watchOS 9 for tracking activity intensity.
The screen would also be more resistant to meet the demands of extreme sports enthusiasts. One more step taken in resistance after the reinforcement of the screen of Apple watches last year, more able to overcome a shock or a fall.

On the design side, Gurman argues that the watch would not be made of aluminum, deemed not strong enough, and would opt for a solid metallic material. The autonomy should be improved, partly also thanks to the improvements brought by watchOS 9.
We also mention the addition of body temperature measurement – also announced on the Series 8 – which would be added to the monitoring of blood oxygenation and heart rate, essential measurements during exercise. Like all new Apple Watches to come, the watch intended for athletes would retain the S8 chip (already present since the Watch Series 6), but with some very slight improvements for performance.
