Xbox has just launched a new feature on its Party Chat, its voice chat system, with noise suppression: now your voice will be filtered so that only it can be heard.
Xbox improves its online voice chat system dedicated to gamers, the Party Chat. Now, they will be able to hear each other a little more thanks to the noise suppression: the audio will be filtered so that your allies can hear your voice better and not the works next door. So honestly, we’re not sure that a vacuum cleaner noise will be fully removed in Party Chat, but it should be better than before.
Xbox improves Party Chat with noise cancellation
This update has so far been released to players who have joined the program Alpha Skip-Ahead, an invitational program among players from the Insider program. In short, these gamers are getting Xbox news early. In the release notes for version 2208.220509-2200, we learn that a new feature is appearing, noise suppression in Party Chat:
“We’ve enabled a new feature that will process your microphone input through a noise suppression stage to help produce cleaner audio in your Party Chat session. The setting is enabled by default, but can be enabled from the options drop-down menu.»
Unfortunately, we don’t yet know when the feature will roll out to all players, but we can assume it’s coming soon.
Noise cancellation meets with some success
This filter of the noise picked up by our microphones is meeting more and more success and that is quite normal. It improves audio conversations and can sometimes save the quality of some microphones. The one from Discord, called Krisp, is quite popular, although some users complain of a drop in audio quality. However, you can deactivate the parameter at any time.
But among noise canceling software, the Nvidia RTX Voice was quite impressive. This plug-in compatible with many software in fact exploits the AI of GeForce RTX graphics cards and allows to improve the audio quality; the demonstrations are quite impressive.
