Connected speakers with screen offer a new form of interaction with your voice assistant. Find out which are the best products in question within our selection.
The 3 best connected speakers with screen
Illegitimate children of a tablet and a connected speaker, connected screens with voice assistant are multiplying in manufacturers’ catalogs. Their main added value lies in interfaces offering more interaction possibilities than simple voice, but also a multimedia component.
Display speakers offer a variety of use cases, but they’re generally meant to become the focal point of your smart home. However, a choice will have to be made between the competing ecosystems of Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

Amazon Echo Show 15 The focal point of your home
The latest connected speaker with screen from Amazon. Contrary to what is done on the market, the new product offers a much larger interface. The objective of this one is to be the central point of your hearth in order to be the element which assists all the members of your hearth.
To give importance to its enclosure, Amazon is implementing a 15-inch screen. The strength of the Echo Show 15 is its versatility in set-up. It is possible to install it on a wall. A wall hanging system that does not change daily use. Otherwise, you will have to buy a tilting support for around thirty euros.
The strength of this panel is a Full HD display which happens to be tactile. To display information to consult such as a cooking recipe or the diary, the interface is very useful. On the other hand, the limits make it inadvisable to use the Echo Show 15 to watch series on Netflix. The product also has a camera that serves as facial recognition, but also turns into a webcam for calls and even a security camera.
Of course, once installed and configured, the Amazon Echo Show 15 becomes the family organizer, but also the heart of connected products compatible with Amazon Alexa. It will become indispensable in your home. Our comprehensive product test will give you more information.
Amazon Echo Show 10 2020 The focal point of Alexa
Amazon continues to evolve its speakers equipped with a connected screen with this third generation of Echo Show which puts things flat. From a design point of view, we find a classic speaker from the Echo range to which we add a 10-inch screen. Small particularity compared to its competitors and ancestors: it is motorized and will turn towards you when you make a request.
Quite a gadget at first sight, this function turns out to be rather useful, even if the tracking permanent can sometimes surprise. The screen is generally better exploited than on the Nest Hub and allows, for example, access to a web browser. Convenient for doing research when you are away from your phone. Most video and audio streaming services are also included.
The sound part is very neat, with a powerful and quality sound. Amazon therefore delivers here an extremely versatile assistant that we see perfectly as the center of a home automation system. For more information on its many functions, we advise you to read our test of the Echo Show 10.
Google Nest Hub 2nd generation (2021) The inexpensive speaker with screen
With its 7-inch screen, the Nest Hub stands out. Seen from the outside, it is very difficult to distinguish this 2021 version from its ancestor. We find the same design and the dimensions hardly vary. The device is very neutral and will fit into most interiors without too much trouble.
Same observation for the screen. The 7-inch panel is unchanged, it does a decent job, but in 2021 the resolution (1024 x 600 px) is starting to sting a little, even for this type of device. That said, its brightness is good and the touch responsive.
Under the hood, however, things are moving a little more with the arrival of an additional microphone, a chip dedicated to machine learning and above all Thread compatibility. This home automation protocol aimed at replacing Zigbee is becoming more democratic and that’s good. The sound part also progresses, with more present bass and improved general power. This makes it a more than adequate extra speaker.
The software functions are on the whole the same, but we appreciate the arrival of control by gestures as well as a batch of functions related to sleep. The Nest Hub can thus wake you up gently, but above all provides sleep monitoring.
In short, a smooth progression for a device that offers solid value for money.
Facebook Portal Go 2021 The everyday smart screen
Facebook continues to expand its range of connected screens/speakers with a Portal Go that adopts a more traditional horizontal format. The look of the device is also extremely close to that of a Google device.
The 10.1-inch screen will not break a duck’s three legs with its very thick edges, but it is readable and above all its size makes it easy to use. On the audio side, the integrated speakers surprise with their sound quality, with a particularly immersive sound. We can also install the voice assistant Alexa.
In terms of functionality, we find above all the multiple services of Facebook (sorry Meta…), but also many third-party applications. We thus find Spotify, Deezer or even YouTube and Plex.
But the great strength of the device is quality video calls anywhere in the house. WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger are of course the most highlighted apps, but not only. For the pros, services like Zoom, BlueJeans, Webex or soon Microsoft Teams are in the game. And if you are not very comfortable with the idea of having a Facebook camera in the middle of the living room, a physical cache is integrated.
Last point that allows it to stand out from the crowd: its battery. So you can easily move it from one room to another. Autonomy is one day and everything is charged on an induction base.
If it offers good ideas, this product suffers from an original sin: it requires the use of a Facebook or WhatsApp account. We would also have liked a few more supported applications. But if you can do with its big constraints, there is no shortage of arguments. We tell you more in our Facebook Portal Go test.
Google Nest Hub Max (2019) The center of your home automation
Like the other products in the range, the Google Nest Hub Max, however, comes with a larger screen which measures here 10 inches and an HD resolution. On the other hand, it does not revolutionize the design of the devices.
Compared to the basic model, the Nest Hub Max adds some additional elements such as the appearance of a camera with an angle of 127 degrees. This will turn your connected speaker also into a surveillance camera.
The connected speaker also offers a screen that acts as a spare wheel. This is compatible with the Chromecast protocol in order to display any type of content such as a stream on Twitch or a YouTube video.
The Google Nest Hub Max is a real control tablet that will centralize all the information communicated. Read our test of the connected speaker with screen to find out more.
Lenovo Smart Clock 2 The clock radio connected screen
Within the various connected speakers with screen, most are oriented for the general management of your home. The Lenovo Smart Clock 2 arrives with a slightly more marginal philosophy: the bedroom.
The design of this connected speaker largely follows the lines introduced by Google with its Nest. The gray fabric with which the product is adorned makes it possible to integrate into any design. However, the dimensions taken from the product will inevitably clutter up your bedside table.
As for the touch interface set up, it is a 4-inch LCD panel, capable of a definition of 800 x 400 pixels. The low luminosity allows it to be placed without any problem in a room without having to dazzle you.
The OS at the heart of the connected speaker with screen is obviously Google. You are entitled to the entire ecosystem of the American manufacturer to make your daily life as easy as possible. Everything is compatible with TuneIn, YouTube, Spotify and Deezer to offer you a quality music library.
If the connected speaker is designed for your alarm clock, it is also designed for your daily life. Our full Lenovo Smart Clock review will give you more information around the previous generation model.
The personal assistants of connected speakers with a screen
Alexa or Google Assistant: which voice assistant to choose?
As mentioned at the beginning of the article, the choice of your product must first be made according to your ecosystem of connected products. In the sector of speakers with screen, you have the choice between Google Assistant or Alexa. Home automation in general is separated between these two voice assistants. You will therefore have to invest in one of its two universes to take full advantage of the features put in place.
How to choose the right connected screen?
In order to make the right choice, it is first necessary to think about the use for which this product will be intended. Is it destined to accompany your awakenings? Centralize the management of your home? Or help you with your cooking? Depending on these first elements, a choice will emerge for you. Also be aware that for optimal operation, the speaker with screen must be connected to a mains socket.
What are the possible uses with these smart displays?
Unlike simple connected speakers, those with a connected screen can offer a little more versatility in their functions. Some of them can also act as a security camera.
Some players, Facebook in particular, strongly push the communication component of their devices, equipping them with quality cameras for video.
