The manufacturer Porsche now owns 100% of the start-up Fazua, which specializes in the manufacture of motors and batteries for electric bicycles. Proof that the German company has certain ambitions in this market.

That Porsche is very interested in the e-bike sector is clearly no secret. The firm from across the Rhine has already placed its pawns through two VAE inspired by the Taycan presented in March 2021, and marketed at astronomical prices at the time – between 8,000 and 10,000 dollars.
A few months later, the car manufacturer went into overdrive and announced the creation of a brand entirely dedicated to connected connected cycles: Cyklær, imagined alongside Storck (bicycle manufacturer), Greyp… and Fazua, which produces motors and batteries renowned for their lightness – the Canyon Roadlite:ON, for example, called on Fazua.
Merger of activities
At the start of 2022, Fazua agreed to sell 20% of its shares to Porsche. It only took a few more months to see the company go under the full control of Porsche, which officially announced the 100% takeover of the young German shoot in a press release. After 9 years of independence, Fazua is today an integral part of a large group.
While the buyout amount is not known, the ambitions arising from this acquisition are clear. Porsche indicates that it wants to merge its activities dedicated to electric bicycles by creating two joint ventures with the Dutch company Ponooc Investment BV, with whom a strategic cooperation had already been discussed at the beginning of the year.
Upcoming high-end e-bikes
The first one joint venture will take care of managing thedevelopment, production and distribution of a future generation of high-end Porsche e-bikes“, we learn. The second “will focus on technology solutions for the growing micromobility market“.
Its historic partner Rotwild, which has made electric mountain bikes its spearhead, has not been sidelined. Porsche assures that it will continue to work with it in the future. This takeover marks in any case a new small turning point in the history of Porsche and the love it ties for electric bicycles.
