DJI announces the DJI Mini 3 Pro, its new drone weighing less than 250 grams. Its small size does not prevent it from displaying an impressive technical sheet.
When the DJI Air 2S came out, we said it was approaching a miniaturized Mavic 2 Pro. A year later, miniaturization continues and DJI now offers more or less the same capabilities in an even more compact size with the DJI Mini 3 Pro.
A drone weighing less than 250 grams
Proud representative of the “Mini” range, the DJI Mini 3 Pro keeps a weight below 249 grams to accommodate different regulations around the world. This allows him in France to be piloted without passing any examination, to escape geovigilance or to be able to fly over third parties. To this is obviously added the compactness (145 x 90 x 62 mm when folded), which makes it easier to transport.
In addition, the design has been completely revised to offer better performance. The arms and propellers have been adjusted for better aerodynamics according to DJI. In addition, the gimbal offers superior mobility for your shots, including 90° rotation for portrait mode shots.
Despite its small size, the DJI Mini 3 Pro is the first of its lineage to earn a mention in the ” professional» and intends to do him honor.
The legacy of the DJI Air 2S
The DJI Mini 3 Pro is the most complete of the Chinese brand’s small drones. Admittedly, its sensor is slightly smaller than on the Air 2S (1/1.3 inch against 1 inch), but its photosites are just as large (2.4 µm). It is thus capable of taking photos at 48 Megapixels and videos up to 4K at 60 IPS. We would have liked to take advantage of the 5.4K as on the Air 2S on a model that calls itself “Pro”, but it is a concession that we gladly accept in view of its many other advantages. The lens meanwhile has an aperture of f/1.7.
We obviously find the many intelligent functions of DJI, such as Spotlight 2.0 to keep a subject in the frame during manual flight, ActiveTrack 4.0 to follow the subject, or QuickShots to create original effects very simply.
A safer flight
The DJI Mini 3 Pro also gains flight capabilities, including three-direction obstacle detection (sensors are located at the front, rear and under the drone).
On the side of the maximum speed, it can go up to 16 m / s in sport mode, 10 in normal mode and 6 in Cine mode. At this level, it therefore does not change compared to the Mini 2. Thanks to its aerodynamics, it nevertheless gains in autonomy to thus increase up to 34 minutes of flight at most, and up to 47 minutes with the flight batterySmart More.
A new remote control
For the flight, this new drone also comes with a new radio control, the DJI RC. It natively has a 5.5-inch touch screen and the DJI Fly app, allowing you to do without a phone.
Price and availability
The DJI Mini 3 Pro is available today on the DJI store and third-party resellers from 739 euros. Packs are available, at 829 and 999 euros with a radio control (respectively the RC-N1 and the RC). You can also add a “Fly More” or “Fly More Plus” kit with batteries, a charging station, additional propellers and a bag at 189 or 249 euros depending on the content.
DJI also offers DJI Care Refresh insurance which covers collision damage or water damage, among other things.
