If you have a PS5, you might now want to add a more capable SSD to it than the stock one. At the moment Samsung’s 980 Pro with 1 TB is a good deal, going to 153.49 euros against 199.99 euros usually.
If Sony continues to update its console, one of the most interesting remains the possibility of inserting an M.2 SSD inside their console in order to increase storage. Nevertheless, not all discs are compatible, and the conditions required by the mark are numerous. With its 980 Pro, Samsung fulfills all of Sony’s requirements. This makes it the ideal solution, especially since its model with 1 TB of storage is at a very good price thanks to this reduction of more than 45 euros.
An ideal SSD for your PS5 because …
- It offers speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s
- It has the advantage of having a thermal controller
- And offers 1TB storage amount
Usually marketed at a price of 199.99 euros, the Samsung 980 Pro SSD (MZ-V8P1T0CW) with 1 TB of storage currently costs 153.49 euros on Amazon, i.e. 23% immediate discount.
An installation that requires a little elbow grease
Generally quite simple and quick to install on a PC, it’s a different story on a PS5. If Microsoft simplifies things for its users, Sony has chosen a standard solution, an NVMe PC SSD, a little more complex to install. To do this, you must first make sure to update the console, equip yourself with a Phillips screwdriver, be delicate and arm yourself with patience. But don’t worry, if you want to install it on your next-gen console, we recommend this article which includes all the steps to follow to install the SSD without any problem, and which is accompanied by a video.
An SSD that ticks all the boxes
As said before, Sony does not accept any SSD in its machine. It is therefore not enough to be an NVMe SSD, it must be able to meet specific criteria in terms of interface, speed and format of course. And Samsung’s 980 Pro is perfectly suited, because it offers theoretical performance that exceeds Sony’s requirements, with its PCIe 4.0 interface, its speeds go up to 7000 MB/s in reading and 5100 MB/s in writing.
Which is more than enough, because the Japanese firm recommends at least a read speed of at least 5500 MB/s. console. Compared to SATA SSDs, Samsung is talking about speeds almost 13 times faster this time. It therefore provided good stability for intensive use such as gaming, video editing, content creation and demanding applications.
Storage galore to accommodate more games
More storage is always welcome, especially when you know that the Sony console is sold with a native internal storage of only 667 GB. It may seem like a lot, but when some games exceed 100 GB, after 4 or 5 games installed on the console, the storage is quickly saturated. So if you’re tired of having to delete your games in your library, you’ll be happy to know that this SSD has a storage capacity of up to 1TB. So you’ll have more space to enjoy more of video games, or even applications and software if you want to associate it with a PC.
