A new rumor concerning Samsung’s plans would point to a late arrival of the brand’s new chip supposed to equip future Galaxy smartphones and replace Exynos processors.
While Google plans to launch the second generation of its Tensor chip soon with its Pixel 7 and Apple is already the A15 Bionic, we learned at the beginning of April through the president of Samsung’s mobile division that the brand intended to eventually launch its own chip dedicated only to Galaxy smartphones, but it should apparently take a little longer.
Samsung plans a processor dedicated to Galaxy phones to be used in the Galaxy S25 series in 2025.

A launch not before 2025
This is a rumor from the Korean site Inews24 and leaker Ice Universe who ssuggests that Samsung would plan to launch its in-house processor… only from the Galaxy S25 series scheduled for 2025, i.e. not before another 3 years. We therefore better understand the relative lack of details on this project since this chip is not yet planned for right away.
Samsung already produces its Exynos chips through its subsidiary Samsung Electronics, a separate branch of Samsung Mobile. But unlike Apple or Google, the Korean firm also sells its chips to other manufacturers in the Android world such as Motorola or Vivo and these are therefore not directly optimized for its own devices.
An obligation of result for Samsung?
We could expect Samsung to end up producing its own hardware, and that’s no stranger to some controversies that may have hit the mark. Especially when Geekbench decided to delist all Samsung Galaxy S22, S21, S20 and S10 from its rankings after discovering that 10,000 applications were restricted by the manufacturer. Or even because of the thermal problems of its Exynos 2200 compared to the performance of its competitor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
This transition to its own silicon would therefore not take place immediately and would take time. Samsung would therefore reserve this novelty for the near future and should surely equip its Galaxy S smartphones with it, then gradually extend it to other devices just as Apple has done. It remains to be seen whether these new chips will take a new name or whether they will remain under the name Exynos.
