According to “Sam Mobile”, there would ultimately only be two models of Samsung Galaxy Watch 5: the Watch 5 and the Watch 5 Pro. So exit the Classic model for more clarity in the range, with a question mark. What will happen to the rotating bezel?
A few days ago, we learned that Samsung would be working on a new connected watch model, called Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. If it was thought that it was a third model, which would complete a series comprising a Galaxy Watch 5 and a Galaxy Watch 5 Classic, the site Sam-Mobile claims that there would ultimately only be two Watch 5 models.
Indeed, the “Classic” version would be abandoned in favor of a new Pro version. It remains to be seen whether this is a simple name change or a new model altogether. In the event of a new model, one can wonder about the future of the rotating bezel, specific to the Classic model and appreciated by fans of the genre.
Three sizes and a new interface
In addition, Samsung would only offer three sizes of watches, against the four sizes of the Watch 4. More precisely, the Galaxy Watch 5 would have two variants and the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro would only offer a single version. As a reminder, the Watch 5 Pro would be equipped with a 572 mAh battery, a nice increase compared to the 361 mAh of the previous model.
Another addition advanced by Sam-Mobile : a new version of One UI Watch would animate Wear OS 3. On the program, there would be some improvements as well as new features, without further details.
Classic and not Classic, the end of the puzzle
The end of the Classic model would have a clear advantage of clarity for the range. Indeed, custom dictates that in a series of models, there is a Pro, Ultra, Plus or even Max model, for example, which offers an upgrade compared to a so-called “classic” or “normal” model. The name Galaxy Watch 4 Classic was therefore not simple since we came back to saying Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and Galaxy Watch 4… no classic.
A Pro model leaning on a simpler model would therefore have the clear advantage of ridding Samsung of these complications. Sowing confusion in the minds of future buyers is never a very good idea.
