The iFixit site, which specializes in repairing electronics, now offers spare parts for the Steam Deck, as well as repair guides to help you repair Valve’s handheld console yourself.
It’s not all there yet, but it’s a good start. iFixit now offers a selection of spare parts for the Steam Deck for sale. As specified The Verge, these parts are official. They therefore come from Valve and are fully compatible with the game console, which facilitates repairs. To make them even easier, iFixit has also posted a succession of step-by-step guides showing how to replace the main components of the device.
It should be noted, however, that some spare parts are missing from those put on sale by mistake last Friday on iFixit. Among these parts, crucial components, such as the motherboard and daughterboard, or the screen, are currently out of stock. A situation which, however, should not last too long if we are to believe the boss of iFixit.
No immediate replacement solution for the battery
Contacted by The Verge, Kyle Wiens, CEO of the platform, promises that the supply is on the way. Unavailable parts should therefore be replenished shortly. ” We have many more on order and catching up in the supply chain “, he assured. ” Demand was stronger than expected and we sold much more than expected on Friday “. In the immediate future, however, it is possible to get your hands on the fan, the R2 / L2 triggers, the back plate of the console, the plastic front, the joysticks or even the slice keys.
Note that most of these parts are not yet in stock on iFixit’s French platform. For the moment, we must therefore be satisfied mainly with imports.

As specified The Verge, it is also impossible to find a replacement solution for the battery. The latter is indeed firmly glued inside the chassis, which makes its replacement difficult. It remains to be seen whether Valve will change this in the future or not.
