Your smartphone’s lock screen is a central place. Advertisers would like to add their content to highlight it.

For a long time, the Android smartphone lock screen has been a central and highly customizable place. On the iPhone side, the update to iOS 15 will allow you to add widgets to the smartphone’s lock screen and thus personalize the experience. It is therefore a part of the system which is at the center of attention now, and this may have given rise to ideas. The firm Glance is preparing a launch in the United States with the objective of selling advertisements for the lock screen.
Samsung and Xiaomi in the first partners?
Glance is a service that offers a pre-installed lock screen to brands, which will then be able to sell display space to advertising agencies to generate revenue. Since the lock screen is the first thing you see when turning on your smartphone, it is a very high value space. It is a subsidiary of the Indian company InMobi already well established in Asia where manufacturers market smartphones with Glance.

The InMobi group counts manufacturers Samsung and Xiaomi among its partners. We can therefore imagine that some of the latter’s devices could receive Glance in the long term, we are thinking in particular of the smartphones sold at the cheapest price. Google is also an investor in the company. The American giant is always interested in the latest in advertising.
The service is now in negotiation with American operators to prepare for the launch in the United States in the coming months. The American public still goes a lot through the operators for the purchase of their smartphones. It is therefore an intermediary of choice for Glance since operators can also pre-install applications on a smartphone.

Obviously, for the user, the service must not only display advertising. We are also talking about a news feed and video content such as the latest trailers for films or series, or cooking recipes.
Glance would already be offered in Europe on a few products, but there is no doubt that a launch in the United States could give new wings to the service and allow it to become widespread in our regions.
