Several users of Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic watches complain that the update integrating Google Assistant causes Bluetooth connection problems or a battery that drains faster.
It’s a long-awaited update that Samsung has started rolling out quickly for its latest smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. Almost a year after their release, the Korean manufacturer now allows you to use them by voice thanks to Google Assistant without having to go through Samsung’s voice assistant, Bixby.
Nevertheless, it seems that this update has not been done under the best omens as reported by Sam Mobile. The site specializing in Samsung news has indeed split an article on Monday to report several bugs affecting users of Samsung connected watches who have updated their Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
“Several users started complaining about battery issues on their Galaxy Watch 4 after installing Google Assistant”, indicates the specialized site. In addition, this update also seems to pose some problems in terms of connectivity of the connected watch which tends to disconnect from the smartphone. Above all, once the watch is disconnected, it seems particularly complicated to connect the two devices again:
Attempts to re-pair them are inconclusive since neither of the two devices is able to recognize the other. Some users were able to pair their Galaxy Watch 4 to their smartphone only after doing a full reset, losing data on their smartwatch.
Keyword detection not always effective
Another concern raised by Sam Mobile, the detection of the keyword “Hey Google” pronounced by voice does not always seem effective. A problem all the more important as this is the main interest of this update of the two connected watches from Samsung. The lower autonomy of the watches also seems to result from this permanent activation of the integrated microphones, since they need to be open and analyze what you say to understand when you seek to address the voice assistant.
For the time being, Samsung has not reacted to these bugs resulting from the update of the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic. However, we can hope that the Korean manufacturer will offer patches in the coming weeks to improve the stability of this feature and the Bluetooth connection. Remember that, if the arrival of Google Assistant on Samsung watches was long awaited, the firm took almost a year before deploying it.
