The coincidences of the calendar never fail to bring a smile. Long awaited, the BackBone One for Android is unveiled at the same time as its fiercest competitor.

Looks like Backbone was waiting in ambush. On Wednesday, when Razer had just unveiled its Kishi V2 controller, the American brand took the opportunity to market (discreetly, of course) its Backbone One for Android smartphones.
A discrete posting
You had to have an eye to see the news. In reality, Backbone didn’t make an announcement with much fanfare. In fact, she didn’t even make an announcement at all. It was only by going to the manufacturer’s official website that we could see that the Backbone One was now available in an Android version.
Premature posting or baroque method of communication? We don’t know yet. Still, it will be necessary to be patient to put your hands on the attractive mobile controller. While a copy can already be pre-ordered, shipping is not expected until November 2022.
It should also be noted that the Backbone is currently not widely distributed in France. You must go through the manufacturer’s website, which ships its devices from the United States. But, rare fact, international shipping costs are offered and VAT included. As with its big sister on iOS, the Android Backbone is priced at €119.99. The same price as the Razer Kishi V2.
An avalanche of gifts
Praised for its quality of manufacture and its dedicated application rich in features, the Backbone One also stands out from the competition by the generosity of its packaging.
In the box, you will find several coupons allowing you to make the most of your brand new controller. In this case: 3 months of Discord Nitro subscription, 2 months of Stadia Pro subscription (but what if, you know, Stadia?), and 1 month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
The iOS version of the controller adds to that one month of access to Apple Arcade. Something which, let’s agree, would be useless to an Android player. However, for the most part, the Backbone One controller for Android does not offer much other than the initial model launched in 2020.
It attaches to any smartphone (up to 10.14 inches – we have plenty to see) thanks to a USB-C port and offers a pass-through charging port as well as a 3.5 mm headphone jack . Unlike Razer’s Kishi V2, the Backbone One doesn’t have programmable keys. Something which, for nomadic pro gamers, could well tip the scales in favor of the green team.
