New images show the design of the upcoming Volkswagen Aero B, which is scheduled to launch next year under the trade name ID.7. It should notably compete with the Tesla Model 3.

Like all manufacturers, Volkswagen is preparing to take a turn towards 100% electric, while the Wolfsburg firm wishes to stop selling thermal models by 2035. A date which thus coincides with that chosen by the European Commission for the ban on the sale of internal combustion cars.
Volkswagen already has a nice trendy range, with its ID.3, ID.4 and ID.5, not to mention the brand new ID. buzz. But other models should arrive shortly, including the future electric cousin of the Passat, currently known as the Aero B. If the German firm has not yet communicated about it, it has already hinted at several times and could take the name of ID.7.

Very sober lines
Usually, the electric sedan appears heavily camouflaged, sometimes disguised as a Passat or a Jetta. But this time, our colleagues from InsideEVs managed to see it in a form very close to the final version. The opportunity to discover its overall lines, even if the front face is still concealed. We should definitely find out a facies similar to the rest of the range trendy, with two rounded lights connected to each other by a black band.
In profile, the future rival of the Tesla Model 3 differs from other Volkswagen models by more worked sides, in order certainly to improve aerodynamics. We find a three-box silhouette which should particularly appeal to Chinese customers, particularly targeted by it. If this has not yet been confirmed, everything suggests that the Aero B will indeed be marketed in Europe, as well as in the United States. She should then compete head-on with the Polestar 2as well as the future Hyundai Ioniq 6.
Up to 700 kilometers of range?
If we still know very little about the technical sheet of this future Volkswagen Aero B, which could take the definitive name of ID.7, it will be based on the MEB platform common to most electric models of the German group. The sedan could then benefit from the improvements of the latter, with among other things an increase in the capacity of the battery, currently capped at 77 kWh. This would allow future models of the brand to travel more than 700 km on a single charge.
This update would also bring the maximum load power from 150 to more than 200 kWwhich could also benefit the future Aero B. On the other hand, we do not yet know the power of the sedan, although the noises of the corridors evoke a GTX version taking up the technical sheet of the ID.4 GTX, strong of 295 horses.

Launch next year
Assembled at the factory in Emden, Germany, alongside the ID.4, the new Volkswagen Aero B is set to be officially launched sometime next year. If its prices have obviously not yet been revealed, they should undoubtedly be around 50,000 euros. It could also exist in break version, answering the name of ID.7 Tourer.
