If you want to talk to Google’s virtual assistant without going through your Android smartphone, the best choice is to acquire a connected speaker. The Mountain View company offers a whole range including the Nest Audio and the latter is currently on sale at 79.99 euros instead of 99.99 euros.

In 2020, the Nest Audio came to replace the Google Home. It’s still a Google Assistant-powered smart speaker, with a design change and plenty of improvements over the predecessor. To date, no new model is planned, but the current one is still excellent (rated 9/10 in our columns) and above all cheaper at the moment thanks to this 20% reduction.
The key points of the Google Nest Audio
- Quality microphones
- 360 degree broadcast sound
- 75% more powerful than Google Home
- Multiroom functionality with two speakers
Instead of 99.99 euros usually, the Google Nest Audio is now available on sale at only 79.99 euros at several e-tailers: Fnac, Darty and Rue du Commerce.

A better sound experience
The Google Nest Audio is quite different from its predecessor. It is first of all more imposing with dimensions of 17.5 cm high and 12.4 cm wide, but also has a more than atypical shape than before with this rectangle with very rounded edges which stands upright. Then, we also notice that the speaker is completely covered in fabric, which is ideal for letting more sound through.
The sound experience is then intended to be improved with the promise that the Nest Audio is 75% more powerful than the old Google Home. For this, it embeds a 19mm tweeter and a 75mm woofer with 360° sound distribution thanks to the new design. The bass is also deeper than before. However, not everything is hardware at Google. The firm has added software to adjust the sound quality to enjoy clearer voices and a more natural sound. There is also Ambient IQ technology for intelligent sound calibration that will automatically adapt to the room in which the speaker is located.
Voice recognition is getting more and more accurate
Google Assistant is obviously part of it and three microphones are integrated so that the connected speaker hears your voice, wherever you are in the room, even by whispering it can perceive what came out of your mouth. It is also possible to ask Google to launch certain songs or podcasts, to announce concerts to listen to, or even to obtain musical recommendations on YouTube Music or Spotify. The Mountain View firm is even working on improving the understanding of its assistant for people with speech disabilities.
To stay and finish on the theme of sound, this Nest Audio now allows you to connect several speakers in a multiroom system so that they can communicate with each other, in stereo or in a group.
