The health crisis continues in China where delays caused by certain Apple suppliers would postpone the initial release date of one of its iPhone 14 models.
We thought this period was over, but here we go again. In China, the continuation of drastic measures to deal with Covid-19 continues to have an impact on the production of electronic products, in particular at Apple with the iPhone which has reportedly fallen behind at one of its suppliers, which would eventually have an impact on the availability of its future iPhone 14 Pro Max.
A race against time
According to Nikkei Asia, unexpected closures of Apple’s main suppliers in Shanghai coupled with the slowdown in transport in the region have undermined the deadlines set by Apple, which is still trying to speed up the pace and compensate for its backlog. Some factories running 24 hours a day to make up for lost time.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max would have accumulated about three weeks behind schedule to date. All the other models would have reached the technical verification stage to adjust the production lines and optimize the final cost of the devices. This verification is usually completed for all models before the end of June to allow time for mass production around the end of August or beginning of September. Apple would therefore be hard at work to stay the course.
A delay still recoverable?
If the Cupertino company manages to regain the upper hand in the development process, it would still be possible for them to launch the production of their devices for the beginning of September. This delay is in no way similar to what we saw on the iPhone 12 range where all the models had to be launched in October instead of September usually, when the crisis was still very present. But the fact is that the current situation continues to slow down part of the production chain.
People waiting for this particular model will therefore probably have to take their troubles patiently this year. The iPhone 14 would plan to include some new features like a potential Always-on display for the first time on an iPhone. This would be done thanks to a new screen technology which would allow the refresh rate of the panel to be lowered to 1 Hz. Other rumors also claim that we could see a better quality selfie module coming on this new iPhone. Of course, nothing is official yet and we will have to wait for Apple’s annual conference to find out everything you need to know about these new models.
