More than a year and a half after the first version, the Surface Laptop Go gets a facelift. Microsoft announced on Wednesday the Surface Laptop Go 2 which uses the same design by updating the interior.
You don’t change a recipe that works. That’s kind of what Microsoft wanted to say with its Surface Laptop Go 2, freshly announced on Wednesday. The portable PC has the same characteristics: lightness, versatility and power at a reduced price.
From a design point of view, it’s a copy-paste of the first version released more than a year and a half ago. We find the same aluminum chassis of the Surface Laptop products and in particular the initial Surface Laptop Go which gives it a premium appearance. Microsoft’s ultraportable features Instant On functions for switching on as soon as the device is opened, and especially Windows Hello via the fingerprint reader positioned on the power button (not available on the model of entry with 128 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM).

The difference inside
For the rest, there is the 12.4-inch PixelSense touchscreen in 3:2 format (1536 × 1024 – 148 ppi), a 720p HD camera that Microsoft promises improved, two Omnisonic speakers compatible with Dolby Audio and two microphones studio quality. Emphasis is still placed for this ultraportable on the office aspect and videoconferencing. The idea remains to make it an easy-to-carry device (barely 1.1 kg) to work comfortably from anywhere.

And if the exterior remains identical, it is inside that we note the main changes. The Surface Laptop Go 2 now features an 11th generation Intel Core i5 processor and a battery to last a good day (up to 13.5 hours). It also benefits from fast charging via its Surface Connect port (80% recovered in 1 hour of charging). There are also USB-A and USB-C ports, as well as a 3.5mm jack.
True to its desire to offer replaceable components for greater durability, the Redmond company adds to the SSD the possibility of changing the keyboard and trackpad, the screen, the battery or the Surflink cable.
The Surface Laptop Go 2 is offered under Windows 11 Home (Windows 10 Pro or Windows 11 Pro available), with 128 GB or 256 GB of storage, accompanied by 4 or 8 GB of RAM. It is also the very first Surface PC to enhance its security thanks to the presence of Intel’s “PC secured-core” technology, which guarantees compliant use under Windows. The PC also supports Wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 to connect.
Enough to stay true to its line of conduct of a perfect product for mobility, promising power at prices lower than Surface tablets or Surface Laptop. All in a light and compact format that should appeal to students and families looking for a complementary device.
