A durable smartphone
The Samsung Galaxy A53 runs directly on Android 12 with One UI 4.1 out of the box, and the South Korean brand promises four years of major updates and five years of security updates. It simply means that this smartphone will have a software follow-up until 2027, with an interface going at most up to Android 16.
But a durable smartphone is also a smartphone that holds a charge well on a daily basis and Samsung promises that its Galaxy A53 can last up to 2 days of use thanks to the large 5,000 mAh battery. These facts have been verified for a basic use, but if intensive count rather a day and a half. No wireless charging on the horizon, but a classic 25 W fast charging system that takes 74 minutes to reach 100%.
A very decent technical sheet
The design is quite premium, since it is inspired by the look of the Galaxy S22, in particular with the photo block integrated directly into the frame of the phone. The latter incorporates the following composition: a main sensor with optical stabilization of 64 megapixels, an ultra wide-angle of 12 megapixels, a macro of 5 megapixels and a depth of 5 megapixels. It is also interesting to note that the processing speed of night photos is 2.1 times faster than on previous versions and that portrait mode has been improved, in particular thanks to good management of subject contours.
On the performance side, we find Samsung’s new in-house chip for the mid-range, the Exynos 1280, accompanied by 6 GB of RAM. If, in the benchmarks, the results are slightly behind the competition in the same segment, the smartphone is still capable of meeting the majority of needs in 2022, with unfortunately some graphic concessions at stake. is on the other hand excellent, since OLED with a diagonal of 6.5 inches, a Full HD + definition of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels and a refresh rate climbing up to the sacrosanct 120 Hz, without forgetting compatibility with HDR10 +.
