According to new leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 could arrive with a new screen ratio that will make it a little more manageable than the previous model. Good news for this smartphone which continues to evolve in form, but whose changes seem to be rarer.
The stock of rumors regarding the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 due out in August continues to grow. As we slowly approach Samsung’s annual event for its folding smartphones, new information is surfacing, this time concerning the supposed ratio of the device’s screens.
An external screen less narrow than on the previous Fold
According to the leaker, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 should, this year, arrive with a lower external screen than its 2021 sidekick. The Z Fold already had a fairly narrow screen, so this new screen ratio should be able to bring a little bit of width to provide a better experience when using the keyboard. This same keyboard which seemed a bit cramped to use. It would therefore be a good point in terms of ergonomics, until one day we can be entitled to an external screen that would be completely operable with one hand.
An internal screen more in width

External ratio requires, the interior of the future Z Fold 4 would also undergo some format-level changes to accommodate a lower screen height. But what the screen loses in height, this one seems to recover in width to acquire a slightly more square format than the current model with an internal screen that would go to 6:5 format – against 5:4 currently . This new format would not severely impact the browsing experience and at the same time would make it possible to gain a tiny bit in overall maneuverability. This design would also not negatively impact the battery of the device, which is also good to take.
A 3D rendering published this Wednesday by the French leaker OnLeaks and the Smartprix site also corroborates this information since, according to him, the height of the phone would have been reduced by a few millimeters and the width of the device would have been enlarged, which would make the smartphone feel bigger.
In the end, these are fairly minimal changes that await us on the screens of the Z Fold 4 and we seem to have reached a certain point where Samsung prefers to gradually refine its formula. Other changes have already been mentioned such as the probable arrival of new lenses for the camera and the fact that the price of the smartphone could be lower this time around. This apparent lack of risk-taking could be due to the stated ambitions of Samsung, which has seen its production of folding smartphones increase drastically this year and which surely expects unprecedented success for its future iterations.
The rumor of a new folding smartphone format is also heard. It’s not impossible that Samsung will come up with a completely new smartphone format in the coming months. It’s still early to know for sure, but, after seeing the concepts presented at CES 2022, there’s no doubt that Samsung still has some innovation in store for us and that the sequel should still have a few surprises in store for us.
