Announced in 2019, the Tesla Cybertruck could begin production from next year, according to Elon Musk.
We didn’t really dare to wait for him anymore, and yet, he is once again making people talk about him. This is of course the Tesla Cybertruck, whose official reveal dates back to 2019 already. Since then, the electric pickup has continued to give its news but has still not started production, to the chagrin of fans of the brand and future customers.
And many are waiting for his arrival, while more than one million pre-orders have been registered, equivalent to approximately $80 billion. Problem, the launch of the Cybertruck continues to be postponed, for various and varied reasons. Except that in the meantime, its rivals, including the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Rivian R1T have already started production.
Ready for next year according to Elon Musk
But now Tesla is making new statements about its pickup. On the occasion of the presentation of the results of the 2nd quarter, Elon Musk indeed affirmed that he hoped to be able to begin deliveries of the Cybertruck from the ” middle of next year” . Good news relayed by our colleagues from The Verge which should help impatient customers to wait a little longer.
Remember, however, that this information had already been given two months ago, during an informal interview with the American boss. The fact of officially announcing it to investors reinforces this announcement a little more. Information to be taken with a grain of salt, of course, since Tesla is the champion of launches that have been repeatedly postponed.
In his statement, the businessman did not give details on the reasons for the postponement of the launch of the Cybertruck and did not mention where he is at the moment even if the final design was validated in last June. We know, however, that the brand has suffered some hazards and has in particular been forced to stop production in certain factories in order to update the assembly lines and speed up the pace. In addition, the manufacturer had announced that it had to put orders for certain models on hold, while delivery times were getting dangerously longer.
Three versions available
Described as “more practical than a Ford F-150” and “sportier than a Porsche 911”, the Tesla Cybertruck stands out from its rivals with its futuristic and astonishing look, seen several times in circulation, equipped with mirrors and wiper blades, not visible on the first official photos. With the aim of offering great versatility, the electric pick-up benefits from a 35-degree angle of attack and can tow loads of up to 6.3 tonnes. It also features the Autopilot semi-autonomous driving system.
In total, three versions will be available, with one, two or three engines, while the 0 to 100 km / h should be shot in 2.9 to 6.5 seconds depending on the variant chosen. We must then rely on a range of between 400 and 800 kilometers for the version with the largest battery.
If the prices for France are not yet known, while the configurator is not yet open, it will take at least 40,000 dollars for the entry-level version. But this price, announced by Tesla in 2019, has since been removed from the manufacturer’s site. We therefore imagine that prices should increase during marketing.
