ZTE is one of the forerunners in the field of integrating this technology. This time around, the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra goes one step further.

The ZTE brand withdrew from the French market a long time ago, but this does not prevent it from continuing to market new products. We were able to discover many smartphones, including the Axon 30 with its camera under the screen. With the Axon 40 Ultra, ZTE goes even further.
The same recipe
On this generation, ZTE has adopted a slightly smaller 6.8-inch AMOLED display (compared to 6.92-inch on the Axon 30 5G) with a pixel density of 400 ppi (1116 x 2480 pixel resolution ) and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

As a reminder, the Axon 30 Ultra had a 6.67-inch 144Hz display. As you can see, this smartphone comes with an Under-Display Camera (UDC) with a 16-megapixel sensor, which allows enjoy a notch-free experience.


ZTE uses a new UDC Pro chip to drive the display and a new sub-pixel arrangement on the camera to make the area more uniform. It’s a 10-bit display with 100% DCI-P3 coverage, it’s also quite bright with a peak of 1500 nits and high frequency PWM dimming of 1440Hz.

The goal here is to make the camera invisible. It will be necessary to check if the photo quality does not suffer, it is often the problem of this technology.
Regarding the rest of the spec sheet, the Axon 40 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and up to 12 GB of RAM. There’s a triple camera system on the rear, comprising a 64-megapixel main camera, a 64-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. The first two work with Sony IMX787 sensors, while the telephoto lens is capable of up to 5.7x optical zoom.
Do not count on a marketing in France, nevertheless you will be able to cross the Axon 40 Ultra in China for approximately 730 euros HT.
