Pocketbook is launching a new reader with a loudspeaker, not enough to enjoy your latest favorite album, but useful for listening to an audio book. Called Era, it has a 7-inch screen and control buttons.

If audio books were already present on Amazon Kindles thanks to Bluetooth, no e-reader had until now integrated speakers. Pocketbook fixes that with its latest 7-inch Era model.
A new E Ink screen
This Pocketbook Era is equipped with a 7-inch E Ink Carta 1200 screen with a definition of 1264 by 1680 pixels and a resolution of 300 dpi. The brand announces a contrast increased by 15% as well as a response time of the touch screen improved by 20%. This Pocketbook product has the IPX8 standard; the reader can therefore be submerged in water up to two meters and for 60 minutes.
This reader has a function called “SMARTlight”, which is in fact a backlight of the screen, to read even in the dark and to adjust the color temperature. On the right side, there are control buttons to, among other things, put the reader on standby or wake it up, go to the next page or return to the previous one.
An e-reader to listen to audio books
The Era model supports six audiobook formats. They can be listened to through the built-in loudspeaker. To go further, this Pocketbook reader takes advantage of Bluetooth to connect earphones, headphones or a speaker.

A voice synthesis function also allows you to read a book, all in two clicks; 26 languages are available. But on the reading side, the Era supports 19 book formats and 4 graphic formats. On the hardware side, we are entitled to Wi-Fi for synchronization with other devices as well as a 1700 mAh battery as well. Two versions will be offered:
- The Color Pocketbook Era Sunset Copperin 64 GB of storage at $249;
- The Pocketbook Era”Stardust Silverin 16GB of storage for $199.
As reportedAndroidPolice, no release date has been announced by the manufacturer, but this reader should be released in July. It would only be sold in the United States, without knowing if it will be in other countries.
