An American study reports that drivers who have already driven an electric car are three times more likely to buy one than those who have never tried one. It also appears that a third of people who do not consider buying an electric car do so mainly because of a lack of information. Explanations.

Electric vehicles are fairly suitable means of travel for the vast majority of people, but the lack of information about them is often a sufficient reason not to consider them. According to a recent study conducted on more than 10,000 drivers in the United States, only 11% of respondents who had never had experience in an electric car would be ready to consider one during a future purchase. But for those who have already been able to get on board, it’s another story.
If you’ve ever driven an electric car, you’re more eager to own one
If the proportion of respondents for whom it is “very likely” to consider an electric car during their next purchase increases to 24% from the time they have already been a passenger, this increases further if they have had the possibility of drive one. In effect, more than one in three respondents (34%) having had the chance to drive of an electric car, whatever it is, will most likely consider an electric car when changing his current vehicle. And this figure even climbs to 48% for current owners of an electric car.
A lack of sales training… and cars
The driving pleasure of an electric car, the absence of noise and vibrations, or the instantaneous acceleration are so many points that it is difficult to perceive without experiencing them. But as this study shows, dealerships inform customers relatively little (or even very badly) about electric vehicles. Buyers are therefore too little informed, which hinders their desire to go electric. Between the longer ranges, the shorter recharging times, the absence of maintenance or even the reduced cost of use compared to an equivalent thermal vehicle, the arguments in favor of electric vehicles today are more numerous than ever.
And car manufacturers have more and more electric models in their catalog. This therefore forces dealerships to train their staff on the subject of electric mobility. And as the study points out, this more varied offer of electric cars makes these vehicles more enviable for drivers.
Finally, the study recalls the importance of the availability of a charging point at home: among those who are not tempted by an electric car, 34% have no means of charging at work or at home. . And while only 17% of people who rent their main residence are interested in buying their own vehicle, the proportion rises to 27% for owners.
The financial advantage of an electric vehicle is well understood by heavy-duty riders emphasizes the study: whether they are those who have a lot of kilometers to cover on a daily basis for professional needs, or simply those who like to go on a road trip, they will be more likely to be interested in an electric vehicle during their next purchase than those who drive very little.
