iOS 16 will make it easier to transfer an eSIM from one iPhone to another. This will simply rely on a Bluetooth connection.

Apple presented the new features of iOS 16 at its developer conference, WWDC 2022. Among the slightly under the radar additions that we discover with the first hands-on of the OS, it seems that it is possible to transfer an eSIM via Bluetooth between two compatible iPhones, i.e. all iPhones from the XS, XS Max and XR models.
The information comes to us from a twitter user who posted at the site address MacRumors these two screenshots.

iOS 16 on two iPhones
To achieve this, you must already have iOS 16 installed on your two iPhones, knowing that the update is not yet available to the general public. The beta is scheduled for the month of July while the official release is set for the fall (probably at the same time as the iPhone 14).
If you are one of the lucky users of iOS 16, you will notice that a new feature has appeared in the settings, in the “configure an eSIM” submenu. There, a new option offers you to transfer your eSIM “to another iPhone”.
Once the menu opens, it indicates that the transfer uses Bluetooth. The receiving iPhone must be unlocked and nearby with Bluetooth enabled, of course.
A bit of patience
According Mac Rumors, the feature has been spotted in the US and UK and it’s only possible if your carrier allows it to be used. In France, the transfer of eSIM often involves going through the site of the operator. If their process may change in the coming months, there is little chance that it will adapt immediately.
Note that iOS 16 still includes the option to integrate an eSIM using a QR Code of course.
