Two very special electric Volkswagen ID Buzz’s were spotted at the Star Wars celebration in Anaheim, California: one representing the dark side of the force, and the other – you guessed it – the light side of strength.

Stickers were placed on Volkswagen’s Buzz IDs to promote the series when it is released worldwide on May 27, with Ewan McGregor present as brand ambassador, in addition to being the headliner of series.


The ID Buzz “Dark Side Edition” is an ID Buzz Cargo, dressed in black and red, which is reminiscent of Darth Maul, one of the antagonists of Star Wars: Episode 1. The 21-inch rims sport the Empire logo, and the red piping that runs along the sides of the vehicle are inspired by Darth Vader’s lightsaber, Volkswagen says.
For its part, the ID Buzz “Light Side Edition” is based on the version intended for individuals, with much lighter colors, between white and blue. This is reminiscent of the colors of RD-D2 or Obi-Wan Kenobi’s tunic. His blue lightsaber is also the main inspiration for the designers for the sides of the electric minivan. Finally, the rebel alliance logo is proudly displayed on the rear windows, to symbolize resistance against the Empire.
