The instant messaging service WhatsApp is working on a new feature that would offer the possibility of leaving a group conversation discreetly.

May was an opportunity for WhatsApp to make big changes to its platform. Highly anticipated, emoji reactions have finally appeared to stick to the philosophy of Messenger, also owned by Meta. The possibility of sending files up to 2 GB, against 100 MB before, has also been brought up to date.
But there is no question of resting on its laurels. The service teams are on a war footing to develop other new features. Among them, that of being able to leave a group conversation discreetly, without all the people present being warned.
A screenshot that says a lot
This little find is to be credited to the inevitable WABetaInfo, which spends much of its time digging around in the guts of the app. According to him, this famous feature is still under development and should land in a future update, without any time index to put in your mouth.

WABetaInfo notably shared a screenshot that says a lot about WhatsApp’s intentions. It says the following message: Do you want to leave this group? Only you and the group administrators will be notified “. For the other participants, nothing will be notified to them.
On PC and smartphone
It seems logical that administrators have a global eye on the activity of a group, and therefore, by extension, that a notification is sent to them. On the other hand, a question arises: will the user have the choice between withdrawing from a conversation on the sly or notifying all the people present by means of an automatic message, as is the case today ?
It’s unclear if WhatsApp wants to make it a new normal, yet. This discovery is also from the beta version of WhatsApp Desktop. ButWABetaInfoensures that it will also be deployed on Android and iOS in the future, in order to make it available on both computers and smartphones.
