The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro, aka the new high-end smartphones from the Chinese brand, are available today. Find all the offers in this article.

It was at the very end of 2021 that Xiaomi formalized its new premium smartphones in China: the 12 and the 12 Pro. The mention “Mi” is no longer, but that’s not all that changes compared to the Xiaomi Mi 11 of last year. They are more efficient, of course, but we really feel the Chinese manufacturer’s desire to move upmarket and clearly want to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S22 thanks to a price positioning similar to the South Korean brand.

All about the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro
8 /10
If the design does not change fundamentally compared to the previous generation, the Xiaomi 12 nevertheless opts for a much more compact format than before thanks to a width of 69.9 mm (compared to 74.6 mm on the Mi 11) and a 6.28-inch AMOLED screen displaying a Full HD + definition of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels (compared to 6.8 inches on the Mi 11). With this, the brand wants to improve the handling of its premium smartphone, especially since the weight is also reduced by 16 grams compared to the old model. On the Pro model, however, the dimensions are more generous with a diagonal of 6.73 inches and a WQHD definition of 3,200 x 1,440 pixels. Both screens feature a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus protection to resist scratches and drops.
To continue on the similarities between the two new high-end smartphones from Xiaomi, we can note the presence of stereo speakers signed Harman Kardon or even Dolby Vision / Atmos compatibility, but above all the integration of the most powerful SoC from Qualcomm currently, the aptly named Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The only difference is that one comes with 8GB of RAM and the other comes with 12GB of RAM. This should have a small effect on the speed of execution, but in any case both phones are very powerful with the possibility of running all the 3D games you want and in the maximum graphics conditions, as well as bringing the compatibility with 5G network. They come with Android 12 out of the box.
It is on the photo part that the Xiaomi 12 Pro really stands out compared to the classic 12. Indeed, the top-of-the-range model has a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 50-megapixel x2 telephoto lens, both of which are very good, as well as a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, usable despite being a little weak on colorimetry. On the Xiaomi 12, it’s a little more classic with a 50 megapixel main sensor, a 13 megapixel ultra wide-angle and a 5 megapixel telemacro. The quality should still be there thanks to the new tool called CyberFocus, which would make it possible to manage the automatic focus of the camera even better, in particular to always identify the face and the body of the subject. As for the camera dedicated to selfies, it is 32 megapixels in both cases.
Finally, the autonomy should not be very different between the Xiaomi 12 Pro with a 4,600 mAh battery and the Xiaomi 12 with a 4,500 mAh battery, but fast charging, yes. The first offers a charging system of up to 120 W to recover 100% in just 18 minutes, depending on the brand. The second isn’t as impressive with 67W fast charging, but it promises to at least get half the battery back in under 30 minutes. Wireless charging is obviously part of this price segment, with a power of 50 W, or 10 W in reverse mode.
