Already present in the segment of wireless headphones, the Japanese manufacturer Yamaha announced on Tuesday the arrival of two new references in its range, the Yamaha TW-ES5A, intended for athletes, and the Yamaha TW-E7B, positioned on the segment. top of the line.
These two new pairs of headphones complete the current range of Yamaha which had already presented its TW-E3A, TW-E5A and TW-E7A in October 2020. Enough to allow the firm to also address athletes and more demanding users.
Yamaha TW-ES5A for athletes
The new Yamaha TW-ES5A are therefore wireless headphones geared towards athletes. A choice which is reflected in the design of the earphones, by the integration of a system of fins in order to stabilize the earphones as well as possible, even in full motion. The Yamaha TW-ES5A also benefit from IPX7 certification, thus ensuring protection against shallow immersion. They also have real physical buttons with two buttons on the right earpiece and one on the left earpiece.
For the audio part, Yamaha has integrated a 6 mm diameter dynamic transducer into its sports headphones. They are also compatible with Bluetooth 5.2 and the Bluetooth audio codecs AAC, SBC and aptX Adaptive. If there is an Ambient Sound mode allowing you to hear outside noise, no active noise reduction function is however offered. It will therefore be necessary to be satisfied with the only passive insulation offered by the tips.
Regarding the autonomy of its headphones, Yamaha indicates that its TW-ES5A allow up to 9 hours of listening with the headphones alone and 25 additional hours thanks to the charging box. However, it is not compatible with wireless charging.
Yamaha TW-E7B with active noise reduction
Resolutely more upscale, the Yamaha TW-E7B are aimed at users who would like to enjoy high quality sound, even on wireless headphones. To do this, they carry 10 mm diameter transducers. They also benefit from compatibility with Bluetooth 5.2 and SBC, AAC and aptX Adaptive codecs. For waterproofing, on the other hand, since these are not sports headphones, it will be necessary to be satisfied with an IPX5 certification ensuring protection against splashes, rain and perspiration.
The headphones differ from their counterparts, however, by the integration of a hybrid active noise reduction function described as “advanced” by Yamaha. Concretely, the headphones will not filter all ambient noise, but only the frequencies that do not correspond to the sound you are listening to in the headphones.
For the autonomy of its TW-E7B, Yamaha announces up to 6 hours of listening time with noise reduction and 16 additional hours thanks to the charging box. However, this is also not compatible with wireless charging.
Yamaha’s two new headphones will be available at the end of July. The Yamaha TW-E7B will be offered in black, beige, blue or white at a price of 279 euros, while the Yamaha TW-ES5A will be available in black, pink, white, green and blue at a price of 199 euros.
