Audi and Apple are joining forces to integrate the Apple Music catalog directly into the touch screen of most of the brand’s models. A feature that will arrive via a remote update.
Listening to music while driving is a favorite activity for many motorists. Between the radio and audio streaming applications such as Deezer or Spotify, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, there is plenty to choose from. And things continue to evolve in the right direction, especially on the side of Audi, which has entered into a partnership with Apple which allows us to take a new step.
Indeed, the Ingolstadt firm has just announced in a press release the signing of a new partnership with Apple, in order to integrate its Apple Music audio streaming system into its vehicles. This time, no need to use your smartphone, since the catalog will be directly available on the touch screen of compatible vehicles for drivers who have subscribed to this service.
All you have to do is log in with your Apple Music credentials to access some 90 million titles as well as personalized playlists, all without any advertising. In a few minutes, and after validating a verification code sent directly to their smartphone, the vehicle owner can access their account directly from the vehicle screen. Cellular data usage charges apply, but the first three gigabytes are free.
In its press release, the firm stresses that this functionality will be “included in almost all Audi vehicles in Europe, North America and Japan from model year 2022“. However, the firm does not give more details on the vehicles concerned. We only know that those leaving the factory will already be equipped with it.
Regarding cars already in circulation, the manufacturer specifies that a remote update will be offered, allowing owners to take advantage of this new feature. This should be available in the coming months, gradually.
